Kjær Architecture has been commissioned to design a refurbishment and extension to a historic brick home, located to the north of Copenhagen in Klampenborg. Originally conceived as an artist’s residence, the original architecture is rustic and direct; composed of rough surfaces and simple geometries. For the new addition, Kjær Architecture envisions a bold and modern architecture that acknowledges the past while stepping firmly into the present. Clean lines and strong forms work with the past to create a new living area, bathed in ample light and grounded in assertive sophistication.
