ARK Journal iv

For ISSUE IV, Ark Journal visits the recently-renovated home of Kjær’s founder, Henrik Kjær Christiansen. The apartment, perched above one of Copenhagen’s beautiful lakes, is part of an historically-listed building by the Danish architects, Kay Fiskar and C.F. Møller, in 1935. In his discussion with Ark, Henrik describes his approach to refurbishing the apartment, within the context of the iconic building itself. By drawing on the building’s details, materials, and location for inspiration, Henrik explains how each step of the project was a carefully-considered dialogue between the clean functionalism of the original architecture and a fresh approach to modern living and design.
